Did you know? DIAPER Act

Did you know that as of December 1, 2022, New York State will pass along additional tax savings to consumers when purchasing diapers? Over the summer the DIAPER Act, which stands for "diaper initiative affordability for parents and elderly remedy”, was signed. This legislation established that “retail sales of diapers intended for human use are exempt from state and local sales and use taxes. This includes, but is not limited to, disposable, reusable, adult, and children's diapers.”

With the increased cost of most goods that parents and caregivers rely on, it is a welcome relief to have this savings. If a consumer has an issue with a purchase or complaint regarding taxes charged for purchases, they should contact the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
