State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR)
Erie County is currently contemplating the sale of the former Erie County Home and Infirmary in the Town of Alden. The County is currently conducting a SEQR review of the proposed sale and project as described below:
North Eastern Alliance through its affiliate 11580 Walden Avenue, LLC proposes to construct a one-story, 57,933 sq. ft. cannabis cultivation, processing, and distribution facility, together with associated improvements on property currently occupied by an abandoned medical facility (known as the Erie County Home and Infirmary), which is currently owned by Erie County. The Project includes the redevelopment of the Property to include construction of the facility. The proposed project is needed to revitalize a currently abandoned property serving no useful purpose, increase local employment opportunities, and increase the tax base.
The Erie County Legislature, acting through the Department of Environment and Planning, is processing the action project as a Type I Action for the purpose of SEQR, and is coordinating the review with involved and interested agencies pursuant to Part 617.6(b).
The SEQR process examines potential environmental impacts and social and economic considerations related to a proposed action and encourages communication among government agencies, project sponsors and the general public.
