Doxy-PEP

What is Doxy-PEP?

Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (Doxy-PEP) means taking the antibiotic doxycycline after sex to prevent getting a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Studies have shown that taking Doxy-PEP can reduce your chance of getting syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.

When to take Doxy-PEP?

  • Doxy-PEP must be taken within 72 hours after condomless sex.
    • Condomless sex means oral, anal, vaginal, or front-hole sex when a condom is not used for the entire time.

You will still need to get tested for STIs every 3 months and whenever you have symptoms.

Our staff can discuss Doxy-PEP with you and determine if it’s right for you during your visit.
