Saturday, April 26, 2025 10:00am - 12:00pm Location: Sprague Brook - Meeting Location: Shelter 2/3 Parking Lot (by new playground) Join Ranger Adam for another exciting "BioBlitz" at Sprague Brook Park, where you'll become a citizen scientist for a day! This hands-on outdoor education event invites participants of all ages to explore the park’s diverse ecosystems, identifying and documenting local wildlife, plants, and fungi. Using your smartphone, you'll contribute valuable species data to conservation efforts, helping researchers, land managers, and environmental scientists better understand and protect our region’s biodiversity. · Meeting Location: Sprague Brook Park – Shelter 2/3 Parking Lot (by new playground) · Duration: 1-2 hrs. · Elevation: Moderate elevation change · Distance: Approximately 2.5 miles · Trail Conditions: Walking through a variety of habitats including grassy roadsides, forest trails, and open meadows · Equipment Needed: Smartphone & download "Seek by iNaturalist" smartphone application (free to download) · Other: No wheelchair/stroller accessibility, dogs are welcome on a leash Register for Sprague Brook Bioblitz: A Citizen Science Adventure!

Come with Ranger Roy to look at what is happening at the edges of the Akron Falls Park reservoir in Spring conditions. We will try to get a look at living things at several different size scales and learn about their life cycles in the springtime. · Meeting Location: Akron Falls Park – Shelter 10 · Duration: 1-1.5 hrs. · Elevation/Trail Conditions: Event held near reservoir on a flat grassy area · Other: Limited stroller/wheelchair accessible, dogs are welcome on a leash. Bring your camping or ecological questions and pick the brains of your Erie County Park Rangers - Roast marshmallows, talk about your favorite camping gear, learn how to start a fire and more. This is a meet and great event so come and go as you please! This event will feature live music, a merch tent, WingNutz food truck, children's activities, City of Buffalo Animal Shelter truck (and pups!), and yard games. Fun for the whole family! Bring a lawn chair and some friends! Chestnut Ridge Park events will take place at the top of the sled hill behind the toboggan chutes.
