Intense Fall Hike
10am Location: Sergeant Mark A. Rademacher Memorial Park/Hunters Creek - Hunters Creek Road lot, about 1000 feet south of Rt 78/Strykersville Rd. This is NOT the entrance most visitors are more familiar with on Centerline Rd. Erie County's Hunters Creek Park has an extensive and varied trail system. Come with Ranger Roy for a 4 to 6-mile hike in autumn conditions. We will go over some preparation and safety basics before heading out. This hike will be strenuous and challenging, not a good first hike. · Meeting Location: Hunters Creek Road lot, about 1000 feet south of Rt 78/Strykersville Rd. This is NOT the entrance most visitors are more familiar with on Centerline Rd. · Duration: 2-3 hours · Distance: 4-6 miles · Elevation: Significant elevation changes · Trail Conditions: Potential for cool fall temps and muddy trails. Will be walking wooded trails · Equipment Needed: Come equipped with your 10 essentials, good boots, layers of clothing, hiking crampons if you have them and poles if you use them. Unless it has been very dry for at least a week, the ranger will have tall rubber boots on. · Other: No stroller/wheelchair accessibility, dogs are welcome on a leash |

Como Lake Park History
10am Location: Como Lake - Casino, Como Lake Park Join Ranger Nikki for a walk at Como Lake Park to learn the history of this great heritage park. Walk from the Casino over the man-made islands to see the lighthouse. Come celebrate our parks during our Centennial year!! · Meeting Location: Casino, Como Lake Park Click here for a map to the meeting location · Duration: 1-2 hours · Elevation: Some small inclines · Surface Description: asphalt/cement, grass and dirt trail. Preparing Field Grown Trees for Transplanting ~ Chestnut Ridge Park ~
10am Location: Chestnut Ridge - Chestnut Ridge Casino Join the Erie County Bureau of Forestry and learn how to prepare trees for transplanting. This workshop is part of the Community Forestry Partnership Project and will provide 3 hours of hands-on training to learn about dormant tree identification, phenology, tree reproduction and survival strategies, transplanting techniques, root pruning, bare-rooting trees, and preparing for transplanting.

Transplanting Trees into the Nursery
10am Location: Bureau of Forestry - Erie County Bureau of Forestry office Join the Erie County Bureau of Forestry and learn how to transplant trees into the nursery. This workshop is part of the Community Forestry Partnership Project and will provide 3 hours of hands-on training to learn about various methods to grow trees in the nursery for future planting projects. Methods include soil, light, and water considerations, potting, air pruning beds, gravel beds, and raised beds.

Santa Land ~ Chestnut Ridge Park ~
10am - 4pm Location: Chestnut Ridge Erie County's most beloved event returns to Chestnut Ridge!
Enter at the main entrance of Chestnut Ridge Park and parking will be available in the main lot only. Parking is limited, so come early and prepare to wait for an open spot, if the lot is closed.
