Image	Schenck House - Public Open House Saturday, October 3, 2026 10:00am - 2:00pm Location: Grover Cleveland Golf Course - Schenck House Join the County Historian and a Park Ranger to see and learn about the newly rehabilitated Schenck House, one of the oldest extant stone structures in the city of Buffalo. The house, built in 1822, sits on a site rich with historical significance in architecture , golf, and aviation. The building now houses historical documents, photographs, artifacts serving as a parks history museum. Admission is free. No food or drinks inside, please. For accommodation needs, call 716-858-6215
Image	Guided Hike Hike at the Eternal Flame Saturday, October 10, 2026 10:00 - 11:30am Location: Chestnut Ridge - Meeting Location: Eternal Flame Parking area off of Route 277 Come Join Ranger Roy and hike the world-renowned Eternal Flame Trail at Chestnut Ridge Park. This will be a fun-filled educational hike that will take you to the natural phenomenon known as the Eternal Flame! Learn about hemlock forests, local wildlife and more! · Meeting Location: Eternal Flame Parking area (off of Route 277) · Duration: 1 – 1.5 hrs · Elevation: Approximately 200 feet of elevation change; steep in areas · Distance: 1.12 miles · Surface Description: Mud/dirt/roots/water; this trail is very wooded and a portion of the hike will be within the creek · Equipment Needed: Sturdy waterproof shoes/boots (or shoes you won’t mind getting wet) & drinking water. · Optional – Hiking poles · Equipment Other: This event and area is dog friendly (on a leash); this hike is not stroller or wheelchair accessible Register for Hike at the Eternal Flame

Saturday, October 17, 2026 10:00am - 12:00pm Location: Emery Park - Emery Park, Shelter 8 Join Park Rangers Adam and Will as we kickoff the fall season by exploring just some of the verdant habitats Emery Park has to offer! We will be on the hunt for as many species of plants, animals, fungi as we can find, while using Seek by iNaturalist to identify what we see! This is a great program for all ages and can help provide valuable field data to scientists. Image	Guided Hike Mindful Meditation Hike Sunday, October 25, 2026 10:00 - 11:30am Location: Eighteen Mile Creek - Eighteen Mile Creek Parking Lot Join Ranger Matt for a peaceful mindfulness meditation hike at 18-Mile Creek Park in Hamburg. This guided experience combines gentle hiking with simple mindfulness and meditation practices designed to help participants slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. Come prepared for an easy-paced outdoor experience along the Rim Trail and a chance to refresh your mind and body. Image	Guided Hike 10/28 Senior Hiking Club Wednesday, October 28, 2026 9:30 - 11:30am Location: Wendt Park - Meeting Location: Main Parking Lot Join us as we partner with Erie County Senior Services for their Senior Hiking Club. The Hiking Club is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to stay active and enjoy the beauty of nature in the company of like-minded individuals. Summary: Join a park ranger on a fall stroll along the beach and boardwalk at Wendt Beach Park! Enjoy the fall orange colors contracting with the rich blue of Lake Erie water. Perhaps see some spooky nature sightings on our final Senior Hike of 2026. Meeting Location: Wendt Beach Park – Main Parking Lot Duration: Approximately 1-1.5 hours Distance: Approximately 1-1.5 miles Elevation: Minimal elevation change Difficulty: Low Surface Description: Sandy Beach and trail Equipment Needed: Proper footwear; sturdy shoes (dress for the weather; the beach can be much colder than the surrounding area) Cancelation Policy: This event is rain or shine. However, if there is 50% chance of thunderstorm or greater the tour will be canceled, and registrants will be notified. Other: No restrooms will be available before and after the program. Come prepared for hands-on interactions with bugs and worms of all kinds! Let’s explore what is below our feet that goes unseen! Meeting Location: Boy Scout Trail (Shelter 11) (Google Maps) Duration: 1-2 hours Distance: 1-2 miles Elevation: Mostly flat Surface Description: Dirt/mud trail, will likely explore creek Equipment Needed: Proper footwear (sneakers, hiking boots, rain boots), gloves if you do not want your hands to get dirty Other: Not Stroller / Wheelchair accessible Register for Creepy Critters

Saturday, November 7, 2026 10:00am - 12:00pm Location: Akron Falls - Meeting location from Akron Falls Park Join Ranger Roy as we look at and discuss the mixture of post glacial, more recent fluvial and man-made land forms. Ranger Roy will also identify specific materials in some of the Work Progress Administration (WPA) masonry that will give you an idea about exactly how the WPA did their work with local materials. Saturday, November 14, 2026 10:00am - 12:00pm Location: Red Jacket Natural Habitat Park - Meeting Location: Main Parking Lot Join Ranger Nikki at Red Jacket Park for a deep dive into the avian family, Corvidae! This family encompasses some of the most intelligent birds; the crow, raven, magpie, and jays! Learn about these species and which ones are most common in our area! Meeting Location: Main Parking Lot Duration: 1-2 hours Distance: Less than 1 mile Elevation: One slight hill but mostly flat Surface Description: Cement, dirt/mud, grassy meadow Equipment Needed: Proper footwear, binoculars if you would like (will have some available for use) Other: Only partially stroller / wheelchair accessible Register for CORVIDS!
