- Working smoke detectors on every floor of the home
- At least one working CO2 detector
- All second-floor windows are required to have fixed screens
- All rooms must have two forms of exit
- Foster youth must have their own bed and bedding
- All firearms must be stored with a minimum of two locking barriers with ammunition stored separately
- Pools must have working alarm systems and be fenced and gated for access
- Temporary pools must be emptied every night
