County Charter and Code

The Erie County Charter is the governing law of the County of Erie. It sets out the form of County government and the powers and duties of the County's officers. The Erie County Administrative Code sets out the details of government under the County Charter.

Erie County
Attorney

The Department of Law consists of three major practice areas – litigation, general counsel and family court. The Department of Law investigates various workers’ compensation claims and assists with the handling of workers’ compensation matters. The Department of Law also provides legal assistance in the sale of county liens representing properties foreclosed for failure to pay back taxes. The Department of Law also administers the Indigent Defense Program.
