In conjunction with the Department of Real Property Services, the Erie County Department of Law is responsible for pursuing foreclosure actions against delinquent tax payers. The foreclosure process is governed by the Erie County Tax Act, a state law that applies only to Erie County. Properties that go through the process are ultimately sold at an annual auction.
