Community Event: International Overdose Awareness Day on Friday, August 30th

The Erie County Department of Health’s Office of Harm Reduction and Erie County Overdose Prevention Task Force respectfully request your presence at our International Overdose Awareness Day event on Friday, August 30th from 4pm - 8pm at Northwest Buffalo Community Center in Buffalo.

This event promotes awareness of the toll that the opioid epidemic has taken on our community. We recognize loved ones that we have lost to the ongoing opioid overdose epidemic and highlight people who have survived overdose.  As of the end of June, our community has lost about 185 residents to suspected or confirmed opioid poisoning. We are working to reverse that trend, prevent overdoses and deaths, and connect people with treatment and support. This event is sponsored by Erie County and is coordinated by the Erie County Overdose Prevention Task Force.

Please join Erie County as we come together for International Overdose Awareness Day on Friday, August 30th for a health fair and remembrance event at Northwest Buffalo Community Center in Buffalo.
  • Treatment providers and community organizations will be on site for a health fair from 4-6 p.m.
  • The annual event to remember family and loved ones who have passed due to a drug overdose, and to acknowledge people in recovery, will begin at 6 p.m. and will include a reading of names.
