2022 Workforce Survey
Staffing challenges have been problematic for mental health, substance use and developmental disability agencies for many years. The impact of COVID-19 on staffing has exacerbated the challenges and highlighted the fragility of the systems of care. The Erie County Department of Mental Health conducted a survey of provider agencies to quantify and better understand the scope and severity of the problem.
Local Services Plan
New York State Mental Hygiene Law requires Local Government Units, which in Erie County is the Department of Mental Health, to annually submit a Local Services Plan to New York State. The plan includes a needs assessment for mental health, substance use disorder, and developmental disability systems of care as well as long-range goals and objectives. Development of the Local Services Plan involves review of available data and consultation with State representatives, community agencies, and people receiving services
