One class seminars

Matter of Balance 

This eight-class program is held once a week for two hours that covers topics including exercise, mindset, home safety, vision, tips from individuals with a shared concern, and much more. You will work with a group to overcome a fear of falling and learn how to protect yourself from falls! 

The next session begins September 25th at Aurora Senior Center every Thursday from 1-3pm.

Take a look at one of our classes:

Eliminating "Fall-Ty" Habits! 

  • Always have proper footwear
  • Leave one arm free when carrying items to help stabilize
  • Check in daily with friends, family, or neighbors (in person or by phone!)
  • Be sure to take medications as prescribed at the correct times
  • Talk about falls with your family and doctors
  • Wipe up any spills quickly!
  • Make sure to turn lights on when entering a dark room
  • Use an elevator instead of stairs if possible
  • Take your time when moving around the house!

Want to help teach classes? - Matter of Balance could be for you!

Help teach older adults how to protect themselves from falls through topics like: 

  • Exercise
  • Healthy Mindset
  • Habit changes
  • Home safety
  • Much more! 

Classes consist of 8 sessions, two hours each, with two instructors (sign up with a friend!) 

To volunteer:

  • Two- four hour training sessions
  • Materials provided when teaching
  • Teach at a location of your choice!
